School Community Council Meeting Minutes May 11, 2023

Attendees: Justin Jeffery, Penny Armour, Gio Velez, Chris Sharp, Jason LeGore, Janell Myrick, Ashley Mills

Meeting called to order at 5:43 pm Agenda Items:

1) Welcome & Follow-up Items
a) Council approved last minute meetings

i) Motion: Ashley Mills, Second: Gio Velez – Council unanimous in the affirmative

2) Final review of current 2022-2023 TSSP and Land Trust plans data & progress a) Review goals and end of year data

i) Reviewed final test scores for the 2022-2023 year. In summary, Park Lane students and teachers rock! Most grades surpassed their ELA and Matt proficiency goals. 2 grades had HUGE increases between fall and spring scores. All grades are blowing district scores out of the water, in some cases almost doubling district and/or state scores.

3) Budget Requests

  1. a)  Teacher cell tower grant requests

    i) No new grants to approve

  2. b)  Possible math fluency program

i) Discussed using Cell Tower funds to purchase Reflex Math for the school c) Other budget needs

  1. i)  Reviewed and approved the Cell Tower Budget Proposal for 2023-2024
    (1) Considered out of the box ideas to increase parking lot safety while the district

    reviews our much needed remodel.

  2. ii)  Motion to approve budget: Jason LeGore, Second: Janell Myrick – Council

    unanimous in the affirmative

d) Odds and Ends
i) Celebrations or Concerns

(1) HUGE congratulations to our very own Principal Jeffery who won the CAESP Instructional Leader of the Year award! We are lucky to have him.

ii) Safety
iii) Staffing
iv) SCC Status for next year

(1) Pending a formal vote, Christopher Sharp and Jason LeGore intend to fill the Chair and Co-Chair positions for 2023-2024. They will attend any summer/early fall meetings and training for those respective roles.
