Dear Park Lane Patrons and Families,
As we wind down this year, I once again need to express my appreciation for this wonderful Park Lane community. It is truly a treasure. Our dedicated teachers, committed parents, and stellar students make this school such a special place to learn. Truly, thank you for your continued support. We love your students and love what we do as educators. We appreciate working with you as fantastic parents and caregivers of these students!
SCHOOL NEWS:
THANK YOU PTA! – Whether it’s arranging a fun run, organizing parties or fun reading competitions, treating our teachers with love and kindness during Teacher Appreciation Week, or arranging food trucks and decorating the school with student artwork, our Parent Teacher Association at Park Lane enriches our wonderful school. If you aren’t a member yet, please join our PTA next year and help continue our tradition of making Park Lane the BEST!
Park Lane Night of the Arts – Mark your calendars for Tuesday, May 6th from 5:00-7:30 p.m. as we celebrate our Park Lane Night of the Arts. The PTA will have food trucks on the premise for dinner and treats if you want to eat here, and we will have the pleasure of experiencing art via our school orchestra, drama, and visual artists. Please plan to enter on the gym side of the building as the rest of the building will be locked. It’s going to be fun.
The choir and orchestra will perform, and drama will have a slideshow and activities from 6-7pm.
Learning Environment Requests – Last Call – Requests will be accepted through Friday, May 2nd. Parents wishing to provide input on their child’s placement for the upcoming school year may do so using our Learning Environment Request Form. Here is the link: https://forms.gle/Y7UGj5FqUzu2UEc16
Class Lists and Placement for 2025-26 – We are planning to continue doing our Step-Up Day where students get the opportunity to meet their teacher for the following year prior to the end of this school year. Generally this takes place briefly on the last day of school. If you will not be returning to Park Lane please let us know ASAP as that information will help us when creating and balancing classes, and will avoid additional movement.
More Faculty/Staff Updates – In addition to the moves noted on our last newsletter I wanted to mention a few updates to staffing for next year.
- Linda Tognoni is retiring after a fabulous career in education. Linda/aka Ms. T has been extremely beneficial to students throughout the years in helping them make excellent academic progress. There will be a retirement party honoring Linda on Friday, May 16th from 2:15-3:30pm in the media center. All are welcome to share their appreciation for her many years of dedicated service.
- Jennifer Tonga, an ACC teacher currently at Willow Springs is transferring to Park Lane to fill the vacancy left by Ms. T. We look forward to her experience and expertise as we continue the great things happening in ACC. Please join me as we welcome Ms. Tonga next year.
- Bonnie Freedman is moving on to another adventure after her seven years of teaching at Park Lane. She’s been a dedicated teacher in kindergarten, online second grade, fourth grade, and fifth grade during her time at Park Lane and has done a great job. She will be missed.
We occasionally have other staff turnover during the summer, but I thought I’d also mention a few other staff members who are moving on that we already know about including Madi Alvey, our Playworks PE coach who is returning to college to get her teaching degree. Zildy Corser, a full-time ACC para, is taking a teaching position at another school in the district. Gracie Aubery is moving south after helping us out as an interventionist this year.
Please Consider Joining Our Park Lane Team – If you, or someone you know, is interested in joining our Park Lane staff please let us know. We love to find interested community members to join in this rewarding work. We currently have a couple staff openings, and anticipate more as we look towards next school year. Plus, we are happy to train & work with you in any position you are interested in.
Current/Anticipated open positions include:
- Playworks Brain Booster teacher: 20 hours every week teaching Playworks PE to all classes during Brain Booster times.
- Part-time special education paraprofessional (15-28 hours/week) in one of our accommodated core classrooms.
Feel free to call the office, or email me (justin.jeffery@canyonsdistirct.org) with any questions. Jobs have been, or will be posted on the district website at jobs.canyonsdistrict.org. Just search for Park Lane 😀!
Back to School Open House and Orientation for 2025-26 – Back to School Open House for the 2025-2026 school year is tentatively set for 3:30-5:00 pm on Thursday, August 14th. As an open house, families can come and go as is best for them. Teachers will be creating videos to share classroom orientation information, which will be available for viewing then as well. This helps get you the important information you need while keeping Back to School Open House a fun, casual experience. The first day of school next year for students in grades 1-5 will be on Monday, August 18th. Kindergarten will start a couple of days later on Wednesday, August 20th.
Safety Reminder – Please stay safe over this summer. Whether reminding students about staying on sidewalks, checking for cars before crossing the street, or water safety if you are vacationing this summer, we want all of our Park Lane Panthers to return safely to us in the fall.
Lost & Found – Our lost & found will be cleaned out and donated after May 30th. Please check for any items that have been lost during the year. Smaller items may be located in the office.
