Park Lane Community,
In the month of September, we will conduct a lockdown drill. This drill will help our staff prepare for a threat that may be inside the school. All classroom and office doors will be shut and locked. Students will be asked to quietly move to a location away from windows and visibility. Teachers will provide a quiet whole-group activity, such as reading a book, as we conduct the drill. We will not evacuate the building for this drill.
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026, and Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 4-7:30 pm. There will be no school on September 25 &28. A new process to sign up for Parent-Teacher Conference will be shared with you in the near future. Keep a lookout for a new post inviting you to sign up for Parent-Teacher Conferences through Parent Square.
Are today’s kids addicted to technology? Are we? From smartphones and smartwatches to social media to video games, media and tech have become a huge part of our families’ lives. The ability to be constantly connected can affect schoolwork, relationships, and concentration. The challenge is figuring out how to get the most from technology without letting it get out of control. Learn more about how to identify problematic media use, the downsides of multitasking, how to find balance, and what to do if you have serious concerns. With the heat of summer comes the abundance of fruit. Fruit provides vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber, all of which help to reduce the risk of chronic disease and obesity. So, don’t avoid it because it contains sugar. Instead of reaching for the ice cream, some cake, or a candy bar, reach for a piece of fruit. To make it easier;
- Keep a bowl of fruit on the counter.
- Reach for a piece of fruit first when having a sweet craving.
- Add fruit to enhance foods, like salads and pizza.
- Grill fruit, like pineapple and peaches. This makes a great side to many meals.
- When eating out, ask for fruit instead of fries.
