April Showers, Earth Day, and May the 4th Be With You!

Welcome Spring, sunshine and lots of fun events to come as we close out our 2022-23 school year.

Our new PTA Board elected for the 2023-2024 school year is: President–Amber McRae, President Elect–OPEN, Treasurer–Ashley Mills, Secretary–Lacey Haycock, Legislative/Advocacy VP–Lindsey Zeigler, Public Relations VP–Shaylene Jennings, Health and Safety Officer–Gretchen Davis, Community Out reach Officer–Alex Frischknecht, It’s so rewarding to be involved at Park Lane, and we are excited for next year. Thank you for being willing to contribute to your community. We’d also like to congratulate our Teacher of the Year winner Ms. Andersen and our Support Staff winner David Fischer.

Earth Day 🌎 is next Saturday, April 22nd. We are celebrating by encouraging our students to participate in some fun “earth loving” activities. Students will be receiving a flyer with activities and parent sign-offs. If they bring it back Monday, April 24, they will receive a panther paw. Plus, their time spent will go towards their prestigious panther.

Our amazing choir and orchestra will be doing a combined concert on April 24. 9am will be a preview assembly, 5:30pm the concert. Please come out to support these talented students, Special thanks to our hard working directors Jeannette Knight with choir and Anne Bues with orchestra.

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 1st -5th.  Our coordinator Melanie Griffith, has many fun things planned for the teachers and staff that week. We also want to get you  involved, so please check out this helpful GoogleSheet that has your teachers favorite things on it as well as their Amazon Wishlist links. (There are two sheets/tabs: one for classroom teachers, one for the rest of the staff.) We have the best teachers and staff and want them to know how much we appreciate them and all their ❤️ work. It really is a labor of love, and we can’t thank our teachers and staff enough. We will have more information in the coming weeks, so please also check our Facebook and Instagram pages for daily reminders and opportunities to show our appreciation.

Night of the Arts will be Thursday May 4th, 5:30pm-7:30pm. “May the 4th be with you”!  We will have “out of this galaxy” food trucks, but unfortunately no droids. Food trucks will be parked near the horseshoe by the south doors of the school, near the the gym/cafeteria. Students artwork will be displayed and we are planning a fun on-site art activity, plus performances from our choir, orchestra and drama from 6-7pm The community is welcome so bring your families and neighbors for this fun night of art, food and great performances.

Our final AR Parties of the year will be held on Thursday, May 18th. Be sure to have your students points earned by midnight on Tuesday May 16th, so we can calculate the totals and award the attendees. Accelerated Reader is a wonderful program that helps with reading comprehension is sponsored by our PTA.
