Agenda Items:

  1. Welcome
    1. Joseph Demma welcomed everyone and began the meeting at 6:08 pm.

  2. Review and Approve Minutes
    1. Melanie Griffith moved to approve the September 10, 2026 minutes. Jeanette Knight seconded. All in favor. Brett Williams (5th grade teacher) will update the school website with the approved minutes.

  3. Safe Walking Route
    1. The safe walking route was reviewed on screen and signed by 3 present members, as required. The route does not require a vote, only those signatures.

  4. Digital Citizenship & Safety Plans
    1. The plans were shared on screen with those present.
      1. Update to the safety plan: visitors must always show ID at the office.
      2. Assistant Principal Benjamin Weller oversees the safety plan and the overall safety of the school.
      3. The school is still working on the visitor process for large events.
      4. Communication about the safety plans will go out to parents through ParentSquare.

  5. Digital Citizenship Week
    1. BriAnn Denoyer is leading Digital Citizenship Week for the SCC and working with the PTA to coordinate efforts.
      1. Students will have Thrive Time lessons with lots of reinforcement of online safety.
      2. A ParentSquare message will go out each day so families can continue the conversation at home.

  6. Update on Construction in the Cafeteria
    1. The wall is up, and we still have the two lanes for lunches. They are working hard in the evenings and weekends to avoid instructional time. The goal is to be finished by October 31.

  7. Cell Tower Grants
    1. BrainPop Jr. (First Grade), $167. Jeanette Knight moved to approve. Melanie Griffith seconded. All in favor.
    2. Everyday Speech Curriculum (Claire Martin), $600. BriAnn Denoyer moved to approve. Steve Leavitt seconded. All in favor, with the condition that the council receives a report on the curriculum’s effectiveness before the annual renewal.
    3. Digi-Block (Andrea Opfar), $420 plus shipping and tax. Jeanette Knight moved to approve. BriAnn Denoyer seconded. All in favor.
    4. Art Room Chairs to Stools (Art Brain Booster Instructor). Not approved at this time. The council felt the stools provided were a little too expensive and raised major safety concerns about their size. Principal Mulqueen will work with the art teacher to find an alternative solution.

  8. Boundary Study Update
    1. The district school board has selected a vendor for the study. The RFP process looked really good and fair.

  9. Principal Mulqueen will be getting more detailed information about the new bylaws rule and will follow up with the council once we have updates to the bylaws as necessary. She will also be inquiring about the attendance forms for clarification.

Meeting dismissed at 7:31 pm.

Next meeting: Thursday, November 12, 2026 at 6:00 pm in the library.
